Compression molding of plastics can often be the most cost effective and engineering effective method of manufacturing plastics for the following reasons:

  • When material requirements are too low for volume-oriented processes like extrusion or injection molding.
  • The size or configuration of the desired shape is beyond the capabilities of alternate processing methods, rings can be made up to 58" diameter.
  • The availability of many compounds to cover requirements form low to high volume.
  • The very low internal stress level of the compression molding process allows for maximum dimensional stability, even in glass-reinforced materials.
  • When the polymers themselves are intractable and do not lend themselves to alternate processing methods.
